Visitors can explore the prominent Kagyu monastery located on the hillside and may participate in communal prayers with the monks, while the stupa at the base of the hill houses the relics of the young prince, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

Located south of Kathmandu, the city of Patan, known to its residents as Lalitpur or the “City of Beauty,” was historically a significant center for Buddhist education and renowned for its exceptional artisans. Highlights of our visit will include the Durbar Square, celebrated as the most beautiful royal palace in Nepal, and the Golden Temple, which features roofs that shimmer in the sunlight.

Bungamati is a traditional Newari village from the 16th century, characterized by its narrow streets and situated on a ridge overlooking the Bagmati River. The surrounding landscape consists of a series of valleys interspersed with terraced fields, where small hamlets are scattered. Depending on the season, rice or mustard is cultivated in these fields. At the edge of the village stands the Rato Machhendranath Temple, a shikhara-style structure revered by both Hindus and Buddhists, serving as the deity’s winter residence while it resides in its Patan temple for the rest of the year.

Adjacent to Bungamati is the village of Khokana, which, although lacking significant cultural monuments, offers an immersive experience of rural life in Nepal.
