The Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek is a hidden gem in the Annapurna region that has only recently been opened to trekkers. It’s an ideal choice for those looking to escape the crowds. This trek provides breathtaking views of the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhaphuchhare, and Manaslu mountain ranges. Key attractions along the way include the Mardi Himal Base Camp, the rejuvenating Jhinu Hot Springs, and the charming village of Ghandruk.
Starting from Kande, which is just an hour’s drive from Pokhara, the trek begins with a steep ascent from Forest Camp. However, the incline soon eases as you reach the ridge. After leaving Low Camp and venturing through the lush forest, you’ll notice the trees gradually getting smaller. After about an hour of trekking, you’ll emerge from the woods onto a stunning open ridge, where you can take in the magnificent views of Machhaphuchhare ahead and Annapurna South to your left.
From there, you’ll head back down to Deurali. Upon arriving in Deurali, there’s an opportunity to trek to the Jhinu Hot Springs, where you can relax in the natural thermal waters before continuing your adventure. Finally, you’ll wrap up your trek at Nayapul, passing through Ghandruk, one of the prominent Gurung villages in the region.

After breakfast, we left for Pokhara, (by tourist bus). The city of Pokhara is best known to tourists for its lake, Fewa Tal, as well as the superb view of the Annapurna range and the famous Machhaphuchhare, the Matterhorn of Nepal. We have lunch on the road and during the day we start the visit and go boating on the lake.

Your guide will take you from your hotel in Pokhara and drive you to Kande (1hr drive), where you begin your trek to Australian Camp.

Leaving from Australian Camp and continue gentle till Deurali through beautiful forest via Pothana 1890m. Great view of Manaslu, Lamjung Himal, Machhaphuchhare, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri and trek continues till Forest Camp. Possible deer sightings are possible.

We leave Forest Camp via the Manjhe Danda and Nangge Danda. The ascent to High Camp is through a magnificent rhododendron forest. It is possible to encounter wild animals, birds, etc.

The Kali Danda trek requires a three-hour ascent to Mardi Himal Base Camp. Beautiful views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli Himal, Mardi Himal, and Machhaphuchhare, then a short three and a half hours slope to Lower Camp, following the same route as the outward journey. Overnight at Low Camp.

Explore Pokhara today, including the old town and its temples, the museum of natural history, Sarangkot Hill, where you can see eagles and paragliders, the Peace Pagoda across the lake, the Tibetan refugee camp and monastery north of the city. Afterwards, you can buy a few souvenirs in the Lakeside boutiques or simply stroll along one of the many terraces lining the lake.
